LOFOX registers and centralized reports of lost and found item filled by individuals and allows through its matching tool to establish a likely correspondence between these lost and found items. Once the identification of the item has been validated, the owner and finder agree together to a mode of restitution. In General, it is recommended to the finder to deposit the valuable items or identity papers at an official service of the found items, i.e. a police station or a legally recognized place of deposit for items found.

Currently the LOFOX platform is functional, i.e. registration of declarations of lost or found items in the following countries: Switzerland, France, United Kingdom, Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg, Denmark, Germany, Austria and Italy.

Other countries will be added soon and you'll be kept up to date by registering as a LOFOX member.

Yes and no.
The finder does not pay anything to declare an item found. The owner, attached to his item and who wants to retrieve it, will pay an amount for a 12 (twelve) month subscription of a continuous and automatic search.

The amount will be charged in local currency and will vary depending on your mobile operator and tariff applied by our payment partner Fortumo.

According to the laws in force in most countries, you must usually notify, report the discovery of the object publicly and deposit it at a police station or at a service of found item (Welcome or information desk, or at the Concierge service of public or private building). However a simple and smart way is to use LOFOX to notify and report as widely as possible the found item thus enabling the owner who made a declaration of loss in LOFOX to retrieve his lost item.

According to the value or the type item (luxury item, wallet, Smartphone, tablet, notebook, camera, other electronic devices, etc.) or containing, i.e. identity papers, money or other means of payment (Bank, payment or credit card), we recommend that you quickly deposit them at a police station or at a service of item found and requesting a written confirmation of your deposit to avoid later problems. This procedure will allow you to be able to legitimately recover the unclaimed item, according to the legal provisions in force in the country concerned. In this case, to facilitate the return of the item to its owner, you also need to quickly indicate this place of deposit in your statement on the LOFOX website by logging into your member account and updating this information.

Depending on where you have found an item, you must normally hand it to the following people or locations and specifically indicate it in your online declaration :

Public places-> police station and official services of items found of the concerned municipality

Private premises-> Concierge or Manager or representative of the owner of the premises or surveillance officer

Public and private transport-> with the competent office of the operator

As soon as possible you need to either return on the site of probable loss or contact and/or go to the service or the person responsible for collecting items found i.e. police station or lost and found office nearest to the likely place of loss. However a simple and smart way is to use the LOFOX platform to report and inform the largest possible number of people of the loss of your items. Then the latter are subject to a continual and regular research in the database of items declared found in the LOFOX platform.

You must first register or you log in as a member and then start recording of your declaration of loss. You need to describe as precisely as possible the item. LOFOX helps by offering you to choose the category, subcategory of the item, then its brand if it exists, a distinctive sign or a customization (model, serial number or IMEI for mobile phones, engraving-writing-dedication, text on the subject, advertising,...) and choose the dominant colors (max. 3), appearance/texture in general (max. 3) and main materials (max.3). We also recommend a free description of the item with elements other than those already required and referred to above (brand, distinctive sign, colors, appearance and material), so you can enter specific information on the form, patterns, designs, size and other characteristics of the item. You can also save a picture of your item, if appropriate. After the description of the item, you need to include the likely place(s) loss (max. 3) as well as the approximate date and time. Before you register your declaration, you need to accept the General Conditions and make the payment via Mobile phone or/and SMS. The amount is charged to your mobile phone bill. Once your declaration has been registered you can no longer change it but still consult and handle it in the event of a notification of correspondence with an item found and reported in LOFOX.

When the LOFOX matching tool identifies a probable matching between an item declared lost and a item declared found, the owner and the finder will receive a notification of matching asking them to go on their LOFOX member account to confirm the identification of the item and to organize the most suitable to retrieve the item either directly with the finder or at the place of deposit of the item indicated by the finder (police station or official services of the items found). Once the item has been recovered by the owner, both parties will be asked to validate this action on the LOFOX site.

According to the laws in force in the various countries, provisions are made to reward the finder.

In some countries, there is a very precise scale depending on the value of the item. Generally, it is expected that this award amounts to 10% of the value of the item. In addition to the legally provisioned award custody fees and taxes may apply according to the laws in force at the place of deposit of the item and are the responsibility of the owner.

As finder, you can remain anonymous to the owner by depositing the item found at a police station or at an official service of items found.

To facilitate the recovery and return of items without much value, it is sometimes actually easier to be able to identify the owner and finder involved.

The search for a lost item lasts throughout the 12-month subscription or stops as soon as the item is found and returned. The item found is filed at the end of a 12-month period also.

The concept, the site and the LOFOX matching tool are developed by a Swiss company. LOFOX works with public and private services of items found to provide a universal online platform of centralization of declarations of lost and found items.

To validate and save your lost item declaration and then start the search you must pay the amount through our payment partner with your mobile phone by SMS and follow the instructions.

The amount will be charged on your next phone bill.

To cancel a lost item declaration, you simply log on your member account cancel the corresponding declaration. The latter is filed and no more research will be active on this statement.

You can find all your declarations and handle them by logging onto your member account. You can view them and treat them according to the matching notifications received.
