This has been ongoing for months now, even just about a year now, and gm doesn't seem to truly care. Vehicle will maintain in normal operation if shifted into neutral upon stopping. This is not an every day occurrence, but happens 6 or 7 times a week. No loaner though so I had to miss work for 2 days. I had to sit and wait until my family could help push my 2 year old car off the busy road with my 2 babies in the car. I am so disappointed with this purchase it's the first new car I ever bought and I'm scared it's going to break down or someone hit me while driving because I can't get out of the way. While driving, on october 16, 2021 my car shut off and stopped working unexpectedly, while I was still in traffic. Once the engine was restarted, "reduced power" appeared on the instrument panel. After replacing the sensor I later received an engine power reduce on the dashboard. I got back in the car reversed out of the parking spot and went forward. It pops back up every now and then. I took it to my local mechanic, who advised he replaced all parts that could be the issue but the car still will not run right. Something draining my battery done put a new battery in it no lights or anything on when I get out been going on for bout 3 months now. Then they tried to say it was low on oil and the oil life was zero and that caused the issue. Mid-way home I received an engine performance notification on my dash, but other than that it seemed safe with no diminished speed. Since then I have had to return my car multiple times every other month because the engine light continues to come on and they don't know why. I have photos available. Like it needed an oil change. With all the complaints and problems people are experiencing with these cars I cannot believe that this car has not been deemed unsafe to be in the road. I got p2138 code, I replaced the accelerator pedal on my cost because the dealer told me my car vin is not include in the recall, the code keep coming back even after replacing the pedal. The dealer performed a system update. They have tried to replicate it but it seems to do it randomly. My concern is that I was a short distance from getting on a busy interstate highway and it could have happened while I was on the highway and could have been struck by a car. Dealership says replacement of shifter for about 400. The gas gasket was replaced however, the ecm failure recurred. Most complaints regard power steering control. Chevrolet is recalling 177,276 of its 2018 Malibu sedans because a software problem could disable the fuel injectors. Their solution is to inspect the Control Valve Body spacer plate orifice #33 for blockage and replace it as needed. Its a death trap. Maybe it was because the weather was cooler after the first couple days - not sure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. It goes on but doesn't retract back. As I was exiting the freeway and stoped on the off ramp, I tried to step on the gas pedal to go but my car did not want to go. You just have to coast to safety. Replaced vacuum pump removed valve cover and fished out the broken pieces, was lucky on this occasion, fast forward 8 months later , the mother of my kids was on freeway and car completely died,, got it to dealer and was informed, vacuum pump failed again sending metal fragments into the valve cover but this time pieces destroyed the cam and caused the reluctor to slip thus causing ecm to shut down engine. A recall should be made with this many issues. Sometimes it won't start and tells you to put it into the center console pocket but it still won't respond. Engine shuts off with out warning. Or I would be trying to get speed and my car would not go. Third brake light cracks on left side, resulting in damage to the brake light and letting water leak in through the roof damaging the car's interior, including the rear curtain airbags. I shut the vehicle off and turned it back on which allowed me to operate the vehicle again but only at a capacity of 40mph. It is a known chevy issue that they have yet to recall. When I brought it back the second time they claimed a bunch of things were wrong with it that weren't wrong the first time, every time there is a new issue but they can't describe what is the cause of the issue or can they give me an explanation on what keeps happening the last time they claim it was an electrical malfunction but could not explain any details and waited until they were closing to contact me. I continued to have this error for the next few days, I made an appointment with my dealership. Multiple vehicles swerve to avoid contact (accident). The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and was not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. On 5/22/19 while driving through an intersection the accelerator failed to respond again and revved to 5,500 rpm's. It just applies the clutch, brake or band that activates second gear. After a software update to ecm the problem finally appears to be resolved. I was getting an average 28 mpg until my first oil change in december 2018. First started with corroded wires under the car which has lead to the usb port melting my cellphone charger which was fixed but after that the ac/heater only would blow out the defroster that got fixed.
